SEO: Are Websites Still Required?

While there is some chat from specialists and experts about the importance of SEO these days, there is still a need to be found on search engines. Assorted studies indicate that search engines remain the number one platform for consumers looking for information or a product/service, and that is likely to be the case for a good few years. There could well be something new that comes along and removes the need for search engines or changes the game considerably but for right now, SEO and being found on search engines is essential for businesses.

However, even though SEO is important, is having a website at the end of it still important. The industry or sector that you operate in will likely influence the answer for you, and not every company is the same, but it is easy to see why some people think that the day of the website is passing.

Social media has changed many firm’s online activities and presence

Social media has clearly had an impact on this. Many people are more likely to head to a company’s Facebook page to find out more and if the ability to shop on Facebook is developed further and takes off, you can see that some people will never make it to a company website yet will still make plenty of sales.

A well-constructed social media range of services can provide customers with virtually everything that they want. In this regard, a business website may serve as a platform to aggregate all the social media content as opposed to being something of merit in its own right. This isn’t a bad thing and if it works for the company, then it should be embraced and pursued. However, if the content on our social media platforms aren’t of sufficient quality or a high-enough standard, you won’t achieve success, so this is something that needs to be considered.

Firms should spread the message about their services in an effective manner

There are also other opportunities for firms to spread the message or provide their consumer with a high standard of service. If you are in the estate agency industry, it is all about showcasing homes to the highest level. This is what instructs property owners to you, allowing you to win instructions and it is also the thing that attracts buyers to you. Therefore, video content is essential and if the medium continues to improve and develop in the current manner, Virtual Reality will have a huge impact on an estate agent’s business.

There is no need to have a website to provide these services and it may be that an estate agent may decide to utilise other platforms more. This is fine but much the same as with a website, there will be a need to drive traffic to this platform and to ensure people know what is on offer. This means that even if websites are not too important, SEO remains essential for firms and should remain part of their overall activities.
